BWET Weekend ChallengeHave you ever heard of the “iron Butt” challenge for motorcyclists?  It is when a rider registers at his (or her) local dealership, where an odometer reading is taken.  He then rides 1000 miles to another dealership and the odometer is verified.  The rider can then claim the honor of completing an Iron Butt Ride.  The kicker is, the ride must be completed in less than 24 hours.

This probably has very little to do with this week’s challenge, other than I have a friend in the States who has done this once a year for the past 4 years.  It’s his 1000 mile runs that inspired this 1000 Rep Weekend Challenge.

So, enough lead in, let’s get to exercising…

Do this challenge at one time, just like the 1000 mile ride.  You can stop for rest and water breaks, but you still have to complete it at one time.  No, you can’t count a nap, lunch, or a trip to Wal-Mart as a rest break.

•    100 Juping Jacks or Jump Rope
•    25 Close Grip Pushups
•    25 Jumps
•    25 Pull-ups
•    100 Squats
•    25 Stick Ups
•    50 Bicycle Crunches (25 reps per side)
•    100 Pushups
•    50 Walking Lunges (25 reps per side)
•    50 Underhand Inverted Rows
•    50 Stability Ball Leg Curls
•    100 Bicycle Crunches (50 reps per side)
•    50 Decline Pushups
•    25 Overhand Inverted Rows
•    50 Mountain Climbers (25 reps per side)
•    50 Squats
•    25 Chin-ups
•    100 Jumping Jacks or Jump Rope

You will need some basic equipment for his challenge:  a Pull-Up bar, a stability ball, and a way to do the inverted rows.

Medical Disclaimer:  If you are not fit for this challenge, DO NOT hurt yourself trying it.  If you end up in the hospital, I’m not paying your ER bill.

For my readers who are just beginning, or are 1/10th ready for the 1000 Challenge, here’s the 100 Challenge:

20 Prisoner Squats
20 Pushups
10 Jumps
10 Inverted Rows
20 Forward Lunges (10 reps per side)
15 Close-grip Pushups
5 Chin-ups or Inverted Rows

Both of these workouts are adapted from Craig Ballantyne’s Turbulence Training, my favorite paid fitness product on the market right now.

    yeah it definitely would be cheating! Maybe you could do this and if you find you nail it with some ease then the next weekend try doing 3 750 rep sessions spread over the whole weekend! That would be some weekend!

    Thanks for the comment! I think using all of Saturday night as a rest break would be cheating to an extent. I’d say give it a try anyway. It’s a challenge after all. Have a great weekend!

    Woah, sounds intense! Take it we can’t use the whole of Saturday night as a rest break? lol.
