BWET Top 5Today, we’re going to take it back a notch or two for the beginners.  We’re going to look at our Top 5 bodyweight exercises that are for beginners and put them all into one easy to do workout.

The exercises:
1:  Jumping Jacks
Stand with your feet together and your hands by your sides.  Jump up moving your feet to shoulder width apart and your hands above your head.  Jump again and land in the starting position.  This is one rep.

2:  Incline Push-Ups
Stand about the width of your body away from a wall, facing the wall.  Place your hands shoulder width apart on the wall.  Lean forward bending your elbows to 90 degrees and push against the wall until you are back in the starting position.

3:  Wall Squat
Stand with your back against a wall.  Take one step forward then lean back against the wall and slide your body down until your knees are bent at 90 degrees.  Hold this position for 20-45 seconds then slide back up.

4:  Windmills
Stand with your feet slightly wider than shoulder width apart and your hands out to your sides at shoulder level.  Bend forward at the waist and touch your left toes with your right hand.  Return to the starting position.  Bend forward at the waist and touch your right toes with your left hand.  Return to the starting position.  That is one rep.

5:  Seated Ab Bicycles
Sitting in a standard chair, slide your butt forward to the edge of the chair and lean back.  Imagine slouching in the chair like you got in trouble for in school.  Holding the sides of the chair with both hands for stability, raise your feet off the ground and imitate riding a bicycle.  One “pedal” with each foot is one rep.

The Workout
Jumping Jacks – 30 reps
Incline Push-Ups – 10 reps
Wall Squat – 30 seconds if you can
Seated Ab Bicycles – 30 reps
Windmills – 20 reps

Repeat the cycle 3 times with as little rest as you can stand, but not less than 1 minute.

As you progress, increase your reps.  Once the workout becomes entirely too easy, move on to any of our other excellent bodyweight exercise routines.
